2008 Eclipses: Consulting the Dragon
“You want to know about your destiny?” says the Dragon. “You have come to the right place!”
What is the Dragon? He is your own personal oracle. He’s the one who pushes you onto the path that is uncomfortable but gives your life purpose and meaning. He’s the one who knows what you need to leave behind. The Dragon is enormous, a being the size of a skyscraper, capable of eating an automobile and crushing you with a flick of his tail. You almost cannot believe your own audacity in coming to see him, much less waking him up and asking a question. But he seems pleased you have asked. Grinning toothily, he speaks in a whisper, because his full voice would break your eardrums.
“This year,” says the Dragon, “I want you to give your creativity to the collective. You must express yourself fully and bring that self-expression to groups and give it away. This year I’ll demand that you let go of any pride or ego-gratification you get from what you create and I’ll show you how pride has gotten in your way in the past. This year I’ll also demand that you join groups and network with like-minded people, even though that may sometimes be scary. I’ll show you the shadow-side of yourself that sabotages you and prevents you from connecting with others as equals and sharing information. Heed my lessons and this year you will evolve powerfully and find destiny-mates who will guide you into the future.”
February Eclipses
“Eclipses are my way of helping you walk your path,” says the Dragon. “In February of 2008, I send you two eclipses: a partial (annular) solar eclipse followed by a total lunar eclipse.”
February 7, 2008 Solar Eclipse
The solar eclipse of February 7 will be the first of a set of Aquarius/Leo eclipses, ushering in a theme (community vs. self) that will prevail until August of 2009. The theme will be in place for a year and a half, but the eclipse itself will have an effect lasting until August 1, 2008, when its effect is replaced by a fresh solar eclipse. Solar eclipses are more physical than emotional, and so are usually attended by physical events which wake us up and show us our shadow.
“Spending time with groups of like-minded individuals will lead you to profound evolution and a sense of meaning in your life. It will put you on the path. During this eclipse, if you are invited to join a group, try it. If a group you are already in pulls at your attention, put more energy there. The window is open for you to evolve powerfully in this group.” So says the Dragon.
This eclipse is accompanied by the planets Mercury, Chiron and Neptune, each of which have a message of their own to add.
Mercury says: “Let this be a group that stimulates your mind and makes you think. Let these be people who communicate well.”
Chiron says: “Let these be people who are healing for you to be around. Let them be ones who can also benefit from the healing you have to give.”
Neptune says: “Let there be a spiritual connection for you in this group. Be sure they are people who expand your spiritual horizons.”
February 21, 2008 Lunar Eclipse
The lunar eclipse of February 21 will be the final hurrah of the previous set of eclipses, falling in Pisces/Virgo, which shared a theme of spiritual expansion vs. practical competency. This eclipse has two reasons to be particularly intense: it is total and it is the last of its series. Whatever destiny there is yet to see, whatever shadows have yet to emerge, must resolve during this eclipse or wait 18 years until this theme returns. This is a lunar eclipse, so expect it to be emotionally stirring. This eclipse is also total, intensifying it.
This eclipse is accompanied by Saturn and Pluto.
Saturn says: “If you expect to truly serve on the spiritual level, you must also serve on the practical level. Handling your day-to-day needs is not a distraction from the spiritual, but a support to it.”
Pluto says: “Now is the time to transform your livelihood into one which will support your spiritual path.”
August Eclipses
“In August of 2008” says the Dragon, “I send you two more eclipses: a total solar eclipse followed by a partial lunar eclipse.”
August 1, 2008 Solar Eclipse
The solar eclipse of August 1 continues the Aquarius/Leo themes. The solar eclipse will be particularly intense because it is total. During this solar eclipse the creativity theme is pronounced. “What is your unique form of creativity?” the Dragon asks. “and what is the shadow-side of that creativity? Are there areas you have allowed to stagnate? Where are you avoiding expressing yourself? Or conversely, have you become so proud of your creative expression that you are arrogant, self-centered or acting out of a continual bid for attention?” The Dragon minces no words with you.
This eclipse is accompanied by Mercury, who says: “Ask the people right around you whether you are expressing yourself as you should. Allow conversations with them to reveal your shadow so you can see it and own it.”
August 16, 2008 Lunar Eclipse
Remember that lunar eclipses are more emotional in their effects than solar eclipses, which are more physical. Because August’s lunar eclipse is also a full moon in Aquarius, it tunes you into the needs and feelings of the group. The Dragon says, “Let your creativity be guided by what the group actually needs. Are you giving what you want to give, what will feed your ego rather than what will serve the collective best? Let go of the need to stand out from the crowd. Instead, allow yourself to be embraced by your networks of like-minded people, let your soul find a home and a purpose there. Serving that will fill a place in you that ego never could.”
This eclipse is accompanied by Neptune, who says: “Be guided by your dream of the ideal group. What kind of people will bring out the best in you? Find them and become one of them. This way you will also find yourself. Let your heart lead the way.”
